Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. Actresses have a lengthy career of involvement in Broadway, Off-Broadway and other projects. She has always had an interest in acting since she was in school. Her debut role in a production in fifth grade was in Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from mumps but did not permit this to deter the determination of her to become an actor. As a young woman she took classes in drama at college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could achieve her goals. After a casual encounter, she got stuck in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart that made Hunter's debut. She relocated into Los Angeles and tried to land films roles. The film, Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Since then she has appeared in many shows and TV films throughout a span of more than 30 years. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and she has won Women in Film Lucy Award.
